Kelsey Phelps

Project Coordinator - Rural Health Transformation Program
Kelsey Phelps joins the Michigan Health Improvement Alliance as a Project Coordinator for the Rural Health Transformation Program. In this role, she supports the management of the Central Michigan Regional Hub, helping coordinate health transformation initiatives across a 10-county region. Working in partnership with the Michigan Public Health Association (MPHA), she operates as the primary point of contact to ensure access and engagement for rural communities.
In addition to her work with MiHIA, Kelsey currently serves as Director-at-Large and Webmaster for the Michigan Public Health Association. Through these leadership roles, she contributes to the organization’s communications and engagement strategies by overseeing MPHA’s website and digital presence. Her work focuses on ensuring that public health professionals, students, and community members across Michigan can easily access information about programs, advocacy efforts, and professional development opportunities.
Kelsey earned a Bachelor of Science in Public Health with a concentration in Health Promotion and Education from Saginaw Valley State University. Her professional interests include rural health, community health improvement, and the planning and implementation of initiatives that promote healthy lifestyles and strengthen population health outcomes. She will continue her education at the University of Michigan School of Public Health, where she plans to pursue a Master of Public Health in General Epidemiology. As she advances her career in public health, Kelsey remains committed to improving health outcomes and supporting healthier communities across Michigan and beyond.
