FREELAND, MICHIGAN, December 1, 2021 – The Michigan Health Improvement Alliance, Inc., also known as MiHIA, today announced the appointment of Heidi Tracy as the organization’s new chief executive officer, effective December 13, 2021. Tracy’s nomination is instrumental in the future of health and community outcomes within the region and positions MiHIA to advance from a strong foundation.
Tracy has an extensive amount of experience that will be critical in shaping MiHIA’s future and the advancement of the THRIVE Portfolio, including broad organizational and staff leadership, community involvement, and over 25 years of experience in fundraising and development. Most recently, she served as the vice president for Advancement at Central Michigan University since 2019, with similar roles prior to that at Texas Woman’s University and Otterbein University in Ohio.
Her fund development experience will complement the organization’s existing funding and financing strategy. Tracy replaces MiHIA’s interim CEO, Mark Kato, DHA, who will remain a key part of the organization’s leadership moving forward.

Her appointment will have a broad impact within the community as we head into the next phase of this collective work,” said Dr. Catherine Baase, chairperson of the MiHIA Board of Directors. “Her leadership, passion for advancing humanity and her experience in organizational funding and development bring dynamic potential to MiHIA’s future. She will be a positive addition as MiHIA works to drive community health outcomes and pursue the full impact potential of the THRIVE Initiative.”

Tracy holds a Bachelor of Science in Journalism from Ohio University and an Institute for Educational Management Certificate from Harvard University.
