CENTRAL MICHIGAN HUB
Connecting community priorities with investment in Prosperity Regions 4 and 5
The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) works with designated Michigan Hubs across the state to bring community partners together and strengthen local efforts to address the social, economic and environmental factors that influence health.
Michigan Health Improvement Alliance (MiHIA) is the MDHHS-designated Regional Hub Lead for Prosperity Regions 4 and 5. As Hub Lead, MiHIA serves as a regional convener, connecting community organizations, health care partners, local leaders and residents around shared priorities for improving health and well-being, and helping ensure that the experiences, priorities and expertise of our communities inform regional conversations and opportunities for investment.
Community Reinvestment
One important responsibility of the Michigan Hubs is supporting the MDHHS Community Reinvestment Program.
Through Community Reinvestment, Medicaid Health Plans reinvest a portion of their annual profits into the communities they serve. These investments are intended to build community capacity and address health-related social needs, with an initial focus on:
- Food security
- Housing stability
As the Regional Hub Lead, MiHIA works with Medicaid Health Plans, community-based organizations and other regional partners to identify community priorities and help inform opportunities for Community Reinvestment.
MiHIA does not make Community Reinvestment funding decisions.
