Program Director - Healthy Community Zones

Denita Dorsey joins the Michigan Health Improvement Alliance as a Program Director in partnership with Saginaw CAP. In this role, she will continue the work of Nyesha Clark-Young and oversee the Healthy Community Zones grant, which focuses on improving Saginaw residents’ access to nutritious food, physical activity, breastfeeding, and social cohesion using policy, systems, and environmental strategies.

Denita is a Saginaw-born community organizer and youth advocate dedicated to advancing equity and opportunity for young people. A graduate of Michigan State University, she brings a strong background in community organizing, workforce development, and youth advocacy. She also serves as Outreach and Advocacy Manager at the Michigan Center for Youth Justice, where she works to elevate youth voices and drive systems change across the state. Previously, as Program Director for Youth Development Corporation, she led social justice-focused programming grounded in positive youth development.

A member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Denita has been recognized by the NAACP and other organizations for her commitment to service and community impact. She remains passionate about empowering young people to lead, advocate, and thrive.
