Refreshed brand reinforces commitment to health and well-being

The Michigan Health Improvement Alliance has unveiled a refreshed identity and redefined messaging strategy that reinforces its commitment to working together with its partners to break down barriers to healthy lives and well-being across central and eastern Michigan.

“The Michigan Health Improvement Alliance works to ensure everyone has equal access to the care, services and information they need to live their healthiest lives,” CEO Heidi Tracy said. “Our new look and feel reinforces our commitment to collectively improving lives and communities by reducing health inequities.”

Tracy said the organization’s new website, www.mihia.org, gives visitors a concise, clear view of the organization’s role and purpose. It is designed to generate engagement among current and prospective partners and further support from grantmakers and donors.

“We bring together partners across our region and beyond and give them resources to address the greatest health and well-being obstacles faced by individuals and families in our communities,” Tracy said.

The work of the Michigan Health Improvement Alliance team includes advocating for change, forging connections, leveraging resources and increasing equity.

Continued Impact

Since 2007, the Michigan Health Improvement Alliance — known to some as MiHIA — has brought partners from various sectors together to address critical, long-term needs across several counties in Michigan’s northern Thumb, Great Lakes Bay Region and north of that.

The organization’s commitment to addressing obstacles to health and well-being focuses on three key areas:

  • Optimizing health care access and quality
  • Revitalizing neighborhoods and communities
  • Enhancing economic stability

The Michigan Health Improvement Alliance is working with partners on initiatives such as:

  • Andy’s Place Midland, a long-term addiction recovery housing facility for county residents, for which the Michigan Health Improvement Alliance is serving as the nonprofit partner of record.
  • Project IMPACT, a partnership with the Central Michigan District Health Department, Vantage Plastics and The WELL Outreach designed to improve preventive care, decrease poverty and increase employee retention at Vantage.
  • A new Food Policy Council to address food insecurities across six central and northern Michigan counties.
  • A new campaign, Verify 5, which educates adults age 65 and older and their caregivers about the potential dangers of using multiple drugs and the need to discuss medications with their health care providers and pharmacists.
