Deputy Health Officer
Mark Kato, DHA, is the Deputy Health Officer for the Michigan Health Improvement Alliance and has over 16 years of experience in healthcare quality improvement, data analytics, and financial analysis.
Mark leads the Michigan Health Improvement Alliance’s health systems and healthcare related initiatives that focus on improving health and well-being throughout the region, including serving as co-chair of the Patient Safety Task Force with our Chief Health Officer Sasha Savage, MD. Mark is an assistant professor of health science at Saginaw Valley State University and has prior experience leading a quality improvement analytics team at UnitedHealthcare and working in multiple health systems.
Mark obtained his doctorate in healthcare administration from Central Michigan University and master’s in business administration from East Carolina University. He resides in Bay City with his wife and three children.
