Maureen has served on the Midland City Council in 2007. She was elected Mayor by her fellow Council members in 2009 and has served continuously since then.  

Maureen is employed as the Executive Director of the Reece Endeavor, a local non-profit that provides housing for individuals with special needs.  She also facilitates the Community Advisory Panels for the Dow Chemical Company and Cabot Corporation at their Midland locations.

Maureen currently serves on the Michigan Municipal League Worker’s Compensation Board of Directors. Locally, she serves on the Board of Directors of the Arnold Center, Midland Center for the Arts’ Board of Directors, Midland Center for the Arts’ Matrix: Midland Advisory Board, Midland County Health and Human Services Council and MidMichigan Health Advisory Council

Maureen was recognized as the Girl Scouts Woman of Distinction in 2004, she received the Midland Chamber of Commerce Athena Award in 2010, the League of Women Voters Making Democracy Work in 2010, a Lifetime Achievement Award from the YWCA Great Lakes Bay Region in 2017 and The Community Builder Award from the Michigan Municipal League in 2019.  

Maureen is proud, life-long resident of Midland.  She is a graduate of Northern Michigan University and the Great Lakes Bay Leadership Institute.  She and her husband Norm have 2 children, Erin and Jon.
