Ellen Talbott serves in the role of President and CEO for McLaren Bay Special Care.  She is an experienced healthcare leader, consultant, speaker, and academic instructor who provides expertise in leadership, strategic planning, systems thinking, performance improvement, patient safety systems and organizational redesign.  At McLaren Bay Special Care, Ms. Talbott oversees all functions of the hospital including the delivery of patient care, clinical quality, patient experience and financial management.   

Ellen is a native of Indiana and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Evansville in Evansville, Indiana.  She received her Master of Science in Nursing Administration from Saginaw Valley State University.  She has worked at Vanderbilt University, Memorial Healthcare, and at McLaren Bay Region and has worked in a variety of healthcare roles including clinical nurse, educator, and nursing leadership roles.  Prior to her role as President and CEO, she served as Chief Nursing Officer for McLaren Bay Region.  

Ellen is passionate about delivering clinical excellence in an environment that provides safe and efficient care.  She finds special joy in coaching and mentoring healthcare leaders and students along with serving the community. 

She maintains professional certifications in Six Sigma Black Belt and Professional Healthcare Quality.  For the last ten years, she has served as adjunct teaching faculty at Saginaw Valley State University with expertise in performance improvement, healthcare politics, healthcare regulation, leadership, Six Sigma, and patient safety.  

Ellen currently serves as Chairman of the Board for the Bay County Chamber of Commerce and is the Past Chair for the Great Lakes Bay Regional Alliance.  She is on the Great Lakes Bay Region THRIVE Steering Committee, a partnership focused on transforming health regionally, and is a past member of the Delta College Foundation.  She serves as a volunteer for Big Brothers Big Sisters, American Cancer Society and Friendship Lunch.  

Her greatest source of joy is spending time with her husband of thirty-five years, Drew, and her three grown boys.  Traveling, hiking and biking in beautiful Michigan are among her favorite hobbies.
