MiHIA chosen as partner in the national Choosing Wisely® initiative.
In 2013, MiHIA was chosen as a partner in the national Choosing Wisely® initiative. Created by the ABIM Foundation, the campaign responds to the need for discussion, focus and action on the overuse of certain medical procedures and tests. MiHIA will be playing a proactive role in advancing this dialogue in its 14-county region, as the recent recipient of a two-year, $70,000 grant from the ABIM Foundation.
MiHIA is 1 of 21 national partners involved in the campaign, working with state medical societies, specialty societies, and regional health collaboratives across the nation to facilitate communication between doctors and patients about reducing unnecessary tests and procedures.
MiHIA selected as the first recipient of the prestigious John J. Mahoney, M.D. Award for Community Health Value Innovation.
In 2010, MiHIA was selected as the first recipient of the prestigious John J. Mahoney, M.D. Award for Community Health Value Innovation. Chosen by the St. Louis, MO based Center for Health Value Innovation (CHVI), MiHIA was selected for its ability to measure and report outcomes, as well as their improvement of the health and economic status of the community they represent. CHVI, experts in value-based design who link superior health outcomes to improved business performance, commits to supporting communities that demonstrate a strategic design to improve health accountability across multiple stakeholders.
MiHIA chosen to participate in "The Triple Aim", a national initiative of the Institute for Health Improvement (IHI).
In 2010, MiHIA was selected to participate in "The Triple Aim", an initiative of the Institute for Health Improvement (IHI). Triple Aim, which targets health care delivery at the regional level, focuses on three dimensions: Population Health, Patient Experience and Cost of Care. At the individual level, this translates to good or better health, good experience and good value. This initiative is based on a core belief that solutions to national problems - like health care - can be found and designed at a regional level.
MiHIA's involvement in this important initiative will provide direct and indirect benefits to the area and its residents. The visibility associated with the Triple Aim has the potential to position central Michigan communities for additional grants, financial support and health research dollars. MiHIA designated as a Chartered Value Exchange (CVE) by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).
In 2008, MiHIA was designated as a Chartered Value Exchange (CVE) by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). CVEs are community-based, multi-stakeholder cooperative efforts at the forefront of transforming health care at the local level.
MiHIA is one of just 24 community collaborations in the nation designated to build a health care system where consumers, providers and payers make decisions based on the value and quality of care.
This designation gives MiHIA access to Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality's (AHRQ) LearningNetwork, a virtual library filled with technical assistance, webinars and other resources on topics such as: collaborative leadership and sustainability, engaging the public, quality and efficiency measurement, public reporting, provider and consumer incentives, capacity for quality improvement, and more.
