Matthew Felan is the President & CEO of the Great Lakes Bay Regional Alliance. Prior to joining the Great Lakes Bay Regional Alliance, Felan served as the Director of the McLaren Bay Medical Foundation from 2012-2014. Upon moving back to the Great Lakes Bay Region, Felan was the Chief Development Officer at Special Olympics Michigan based on the campus of Central Michigan University.

Felan worked as a political fundraiser for over a decade, spending extensive time in Washington, DC and Richmond, VA. Felan was the National Deputy Finance Director for Jean Carnahan (2001-2002), Mid-Atlantic Finance Director for Joseph Lieberman (2003), Finance Director/Inaugural Director and PAC Director for Governor Timothy Kaine (2004-2009), and the National Deputy Finance Director for Senator Hillary Clinton (2006-2008). From 2008-2012, Felan operated his own consulting firm, Felan Strategies, working on a wide array of local, state, and national political campaigns.

Felan is a native of the Great Lakes Bay Region, first graduating from Bay City All Saints High School and then Michigan State University. Felan has a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations from James Madison College at MSU.

Felan is a Dow Bay Area Family Y Board Member, a member of Bay City’s Noon Rotary Club,  coaches youth football/basketball/soccer, announces varsity boys basketball at All Saints, and broadcasts the high school football game of the week on Great Lakes Sports Network.
